Philip Fowler established Fowlers 15 years ago having worked as an Estate Agent for the previous 9 years in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex. Fowlers specialises in the market niche which is North East Dartmoor and sells residential and commercial property as well as running a successful residential and commercial letting side.

Property in the North East Dartmoor area comes in all shapes and sizes and ages ranging from ancient listed granite country houses to modern terraced property and everything in between. The two large residential areas are the towns of Moretonhampstead and Chagford which have a full range of amenities including schools, health centres and sports facilities as well as a wide range of day to day and specialist shops. There are also many villages and hamlets with good moorland and Teign valley access like Drewsteignton and South Zeal, Throwleigh, Gidleigh, Sticklepath, South Tawton and Dunsford.

North East Dartmoor is the more gentle side of Dartmoor, being in a relative rain shadow from the Atlantic weather and with rounded hills, weathered tors and deep valleys with rivers flowing off the open moor. It is a prosperous area with a good lifestyle, easy access to the moor and countryside pursuits, yet only a short drive to the A30 dual carriageway with access to motorways (M5) and the county town of Exeter (station and airport).

The area attracts many creative people and has a broad range of indoor and outdoor activities. Sports facilities include gymnasia, football and cricket pitches, village halls with regular live music and events, active churches and many local societies and groups. Each year there are carnivals, festivals and theatre. Primary schooling is good with excellent Ofsted reports at both Moretonhampstead (brand new school building) and Chagford. There are pre-school groups and also a Montessori school in Chagford. State senior schooling is at either Okehampton Community College or South Dartmoor Community College. Private schooling is available in Exeter and Newton Abbot.

In 2009 there is a Pantomime in February in Moretonhampstead and an Arts Festival in Chagford, a carnival in Moretonhampstead and South Zeal and a whole host of fetes, coffee mornings, flea markets and other activities.
