Beautiful North East Dartmoor is inside the Dartmoor National Park and is part of one of England’s last great wilderness areas.
This softer side of Dartmoor is a beautiful place to live with lovely homes, lanes full of wild hedgerows and flowers, imposing tors, rolling fields, open moorland and fast flowing rivers in lush valleys.
Within the area there is a tremendous variety of property from Medieval stone homes, barn conversions, ancient farmhouses to exciting modern contemporary homes, village and town cottages, houses and flats and bungalows, many with lovely views.
There is a surprising array of shopping with day to day and specialist needs catered for, tea rooms, restaurants, a gallery, cafes, hotels and pubs. There are C of E parish churches, a Roman Catholic church and chapels, primary schools, pre schools and a Montessori school.
The area appeals to all age groups and the communities are very inclusive with plenty of great cultural and artistic events throughout the area and throughout the year.
North East Dartmoor has a cottage hospital in Moretonhampstead and doctors, dentists and veterinary surgeries in both Chagford and Moretonhampstead, as well as public libraries. There are good sports facilities including cricket grounds, football pitches, sports pavilions and gymnasia, open air swimming pools and excellent riding and walking in the surrounding countryside.
Access to major roads is easy with the A38 and the A30 framing this corner of the moor and giving easy access to Exeter and Plymouth and the national motorway network.
Exeter has its own regional and international airport and there are main line stations in both Newton Abbot and Exeter.
